One of the most fascinating reviews of the partnership between Stirling and Gowan was published in The Architect & Building news, 7 Jan 1959.
’In search of Architecture’ encompassed a series of articles published to show the work of young men that were striving for individual expression in architecture and to help readers gain a better understanding of architectural trends. ‘The Work of James Stirling and James Gowan’ was the first of the series.

The sections on Langham House Close are particularly precious to current and future owners as the article included the original building drawings of the flats’ kitchen servery units. Thanks to these drawings, some residents have been able to restore the original design of the units which, in a number of flats, had been removed over the years.
